Preclinical Lab for Translational Research into Affective Disorders - PLATRAD (Prof. Dr. C. Pryce)

Stress-related psychiatric illnesses are debilitating and present with severe pathologies of the brain/mind/body. These include increased focus on aversive life events and reduced interest in reward. Physiological understanding of the aetio-pathogenesis of stress-related psychopathologies is lacking and, accordingly, current therapies are of limited efficacy. Our main goals are to conduct research with mouse models that: (1) increases understanding of the aetio-pathogenesis of major stress-related psychopathologies, and (2) contributes to the discovery of underlying neurobiological patho-mechanisms and to the development of novel, efficacious pharmacotherapies.
