Psychotherapy of Depression and Anxiety (PD Dr. R. Krähenmann)

Psychotherapeutic interventions – in addition to biological treatment modalities – are key for effectively treating acute and chronic forms of depression and anxiety disorders. Overall, the efficacy of psychotherapy in affective disorders is well established. However, there is considerable heterogeneity in terms of patient characteristics, diagnoses, comorbidities and treatment modalities which makes prediction of treatment outcomes difficult. Therefore, our group aims at elucidating predictors, processes and outcomes of psychotherapy in affective disorders, especially in chronic, difficult-to-treat patients.
