Head Behavorial Research & Psychotherapy: Matthias Hartmann-Riemer, PhD

Mission

The research focus of the group is on psychological and neural processes underlying schizophrenia and related disorders. A special interest lies in the negative symptoms (apathy and diminished expression), which is a frequent and debilitating symptom dimension in different neuropsychiatric disorders, especially schizophrenia. In our research we employ a multi-level approach equally emphasizing psychological and psychopathological assessment, behavioral readouts and neuroimaging. We further aim to translate findings from basic research into novel and efficacious therapeutic interventions (i.e., psychotherapy, fMRI-neurofeedback, anti-inflammatory compounds).
