Matthias Jaeger is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist and works as Director of the Clinic for Adult Psychiatry at Psychiatrie Baselland and as lecturer and researcher at the Department for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics of the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich. He studied medicine in Giessen (D) and Amsterdam (NL) and specialized on psychiatry in Zurich. From 2005 to 2018 he worked in various inpatient and outpatient units at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich, and since 2016 as head of the center for acute psychiatric disorders. He contributes to lecture courses and seminars of several parts of the curriculum for medical and psychological students.
His research interests are clinical social psychiatry and mental health services research with a focus on housing and employment for individuals with mental disorders, aggression and coercion in psychiatric setting, and recovery concepts. He is peer reviewer for several scientific journals.
