Professorship for Experimental and Applied Psychotherapy

Research Our research aims to take new steps towards optpimzing treatment of psychological disorders, such as anxiety or depression. Amongst the most effective treatments for such disorders are psychological psychotherapies, such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). These treatments are nevertheless only moderately successful in initiating and sustaining individual change in psychopathology. Our projects aim to understand better the mechanisms underlying the development and maintenance of psychopathology. Based on these findings, we aim to improve CBT outcomes. To achieve this objective, we use a a multi-method research program combining clinical studies with experimental laboratory paradigms. With our research, we aim to promote theoretical and clinical innovations that will enable more effective treatment of such disorders.
